When it comes to Napa Valley activities, you’ll spend some time deciding what to do, and then what to do first! Our personal hospitality carries over into a desire to help you accomplish a memorable Wine Country experience.
Our average annual temperature is 69 degrees Fahrenheit and our moderate weather is delightful. The annual grape harvest begins in late summer – but always only when the grapes have reached their prime. We recommend keeping a light jacket or sweater handy for most evenings. The cool ocean air settles in and you’ll want to be comfortable. Have an umbrella handy for trips around the Valley during the winter.
The first grape vines were established in 1839 and were followed by European vines and vintners who seeded the valley we now call home. In spite of economic boom and bust periods since then, Napa Valley has evolved to become a legitimate player on the wine world stage. Some of the finest grapes grow, are harvested and produced into wine just beyond the front door of the Black Rock Inn.
The valley’s commitment to environmental stewardship, mutual cooperation among the wineries and, above all, hospitality signals a strong future for Napa Valley. The Black Rock Inn is at the epicenter of mid-valley Napa Wine Country and is a key part of this expanding local spirit of hospitality.
Wine Tasting Experiences
Based in part on our prior phone conversations with you, after you arrive at Black Rock, we will tailor your wine tasting schedule. We can help you plan to visit the well-known wineries and we can also lead you to some that you likely have never heard of. All of your transportation needs along with lunch in a vineyard can be packaged up on the fly. Prices will be established for these services based upon your unique needs.
Remember that each afternoon you can enjoy a complimentary glass of our wine-of-the-day in our Tasting Dining Room next to the Inn’s Wine Cave. We also offer a creative and constantly changing menu of additional wines Jeff may chose to open.
Non-Wine Tasting Experiences
The Valley isn’t only about wine – or at least it doesn’t have to be! Enjoy a safe and leisurely bike rental through beautiful gently rolling hills and along the vineyard paths. We can arrange for bike tours as well. If hiking is your thing we can recommend the full range of trail types from easy and relaxed to more challenging and athletic ones. St. Helena and the surrounding area offer many galleries, antique shops, farmers markets, and of course wine shops. Hot air ballooning is close by too. The bird-eye view of the Napa Valley is truly breathtaking to experience.
We provide you with a solid start to your busy day. A cooked breakfast awaits you – different each morning. This small feast changes daily and may include fresh juice, special baked goods, and creatively prepared, flavorful courses of wholesome eggs, potatoes, chicken sausage, smoked salmon and the freshest fruits and yogurts. Freshly brewed dark roast bean coffee and a selection of teas will help get your day started well. You’ll begin your Napa Valley day nourished.
Breakfast is served at 9 a.m. daily. If you are departing early and would like something light before you leave, just let us know the night before.
Picnic Lunch Experience
We can arrange for picnic lunches to accompany you on your wine tasting tours or to take along to a scenic and quite spot. Napa Valley local producers provide the freshest and finest foods. Prices will be established for these services based upon your unique needs.
The number and variety of spa services available to you – all close to the Inn – will surprise you. We can arrange for Swedish, Thai, hot stone, deep tissue, prenatal, reflexology, sports and couples massages.
